Rezumat: Spre sfârșitul celui de-al cincilea deceniu al veacului trecut, nu mult după încetarea ostilităților celui de-al doilea război mondial, apare în preocupările criminologilor un nou domeniu de cercetare căreia – pe drept sau pe nedrept – i se spune azi victimologie. Rezumat: Prezentul studiu îşi propune drept scop identificarea similitudinilor şi, în acelaşi timp, a discrepanțelor ce există între natura comportamentului persoanei afectate de „Sindromul Münhausen” şi victima confabulator, autor al procesului de victimizare simulată. Cercetarea se axează pe o delimitare comparativă subtilă a dereglărilor simulative patologice, lipsite de orice motivație exterioară, de comportamente intenționate, orientate spre eschivarea de la răspundere, spre obținerea unui beneficiu sau a unei facilități pentru victima simulantă.
