The concept of social reintegration in Romania after 1989

Abstract: This paper attempts at pointing to the way in which social reintegration has evolved in Romania, starting with the communist era and ending with present time. First, we briefly outline the organisation of social reintegration under the communist regime and then we present how this concept has been approached in the last thirty years, under the new political circumstances, stemming from the recommendations of the Committee of Ministers of Council of Europe to Member States. Our conclusions focus on the role of education, which is fundamental in accomplishing successful social reintegration.
