Rezumat: Scopul prezentei lucrări este de a oferi o introducere cu privire la conceptul de white-collar crime. În concret, vor fi examinate originea şi evoluţia acestui concept, urmărind unele repere teoretice şi practice care au determinat criminalitatea gulerelor albe să se evidenţieze în cele din urmă drept un fenomen criminologic deosebit de complex. De la constructele lui Sutherland la evoluţiile prilejuite de era digitală, variile teorii avansate de specialişti având drept obiectiv explicarea conceptului de white-collar crime din toate perspectivele relevante furnizează, pe lângă un obiect de studiu fascinant şi fertil, o sursă valoroasă de cunoştinţe în vederea analizării măsurilor optime ce sunt necesare pentru a limita în mod eficient recrudescenţa acestui fenomen.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to provide an introduction to the concept of white-collar crime. Specifically, the origin and evolution of such concept will be under examination, by pursuing several theoretical and practical milestones that determined white-collar criminality to eventually stand out as a highly complex criminological phenomenon. From Sutherland’s emerging constructs to the developments brought about by the digital age, the various theories advanced by scholars aiming to explain the white-collar crime concept conceivably from all the relevant perspectives make available, besides a fascinating and fertile research topic, a valuable source of insight for analysing the optimal measures required to effectively limit the escalation of this phenomenon.
